Company Profile

Answers Research, Inc. was founded in 1989 by Albert Fitzgerald. Prior to that time, each step in Al's career was bringing him closer to this successful entrepreneurial venture. From holding positions within leading computer and telecommunication companies including Hewlett-Packard and GTE to earning two graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton (an MBA and a Masters in Computer Science), Al was building the foundation for Answers Research.

The company began in a spare bedroom in Al Fitzgerald's home in Solana Beach, CA. As Answers Research took a more concrete form, its first real office was the "cottage" (nine employees in a one-bedroom cottage, including a phone room!). From these humble beginnings, Answers established high-technology as its specialty, utilizing Al's industry knowledge and methodological expertise to conduct its first studies on printers, peripherals and reseller channels. By setting high standards in client service excellence and continually developing innovative research methodologies, Answers established the framework for lasting success.

In 1991, Cathy Bueter joined Answers Research, bringing experience in market research for consumer packaged goods and high technology channel program management to the team. Previously holding posts at Burke Marketing Research and Hewlett-Packard, Cathy's extensive knowledge of the advanced technology consumer allowed the company to expand its service offerings to include custom-designed qualitative research methodologies.

The company moved to progressively larger facilities until finally establishing its present Solana Beach headquarters. Today Answers boasts an expert staff of researchers, statisticians, and marketers who are continually trained in their areas of expertise.

Answers Research has become recognized as an industry innovator, having developed numerous custom and proprietary techniques and pioneering new methodologies in partnership with academic institutions including Stanford University. The company's portfolio has grown to include a complete range of quantitative and qualitative solutions designed to deliver valid, actionable, and timely results to its valued clients. It is a global company, providing marketing expertise for advanced technology industries internationally through worldwide fielding partnerships.

Since Answers Research's inception, Al Fitzgerald and Cathy Bueter have become industry leaders. As recognized methodological experts, each routinely publishes articles in leading market research journals and lectures at major conferences and industry events. Both strongly believe in sharing the company’s trademarked techniques and regularly visit clients to present new methodologies that will help guide their market strategies into the new millennium.
